Many people struggle when they write at work. Some tend to waffle rather than getting straight to the point. Others find it hard to get their message across clearly in a way that’s suitable for their readers. And of course, many people are let down by poor spelling, punctuation or grammar.
You can learn how to improve your writing and produce better content. At this one-day course, I share techniques built up over more than 25 years working as a business writer. It’s a day packed with insights into how you can improve your writing skills.
Who is it for?
This one-day course is for anyone who needs to write for internal or external audiences. From engineers writing detailed reports to administrators writing emails or letters to customers, this course leaves delegates with new skills and techniques for clearer, better writing.
Please note: this course has been designed for people where English is either their first language or where they have achieved a high standard of English as a second language. It is not an English language course.
Format
This course is nothing like those boring English lessons that you might remember from school. Instead, it delivers practical help in a fun way, enabling delegates to come away with new techniques for better business writing, as well as a solid foundation for improved grammar and punctuation.
The delivery style is lively and engaging. The course is packed with fun tests, relaxed discussion about tricky issues and lots of examples to explain the theory and techniques. Delegates start using the techniques at the course itself, with writing tasks throughout the day.

This is a one-day course but it can be delivered however best suits you and your delegates. It can all be delivered on the same day, across two half days, or through a series of shorter sessions.

I want to make sure that every course I deliver is of maximum value to delegates. So instead of taking an off-the-shelf approach, I find out about the delegates’ roles and development needs. Each course is then tailored to closely match what’s needed.
Follow-up support is also available. Each delegate can send me a few examples of their writing and I will provide feedback on these by email or phone calls. This optional coaching element provides an opportunity to focus on individual strengths and weaknesses.
There’s a simple and highly competitive pricing structure for this one-day workshop:
Delivery in a coaching style for one delegate costs £450.
There is an additional fee of £100 per delegate. (So two delegates £550, three delegates £650 and so on.)
Recommended maximum of 12 delegates.
If you prefer to arrange delivery across two half-days, or another schedule, I will quote appropriate pricing.
One-to-one coaching after the workshop can be added to the package, with the rate depending on the amount of coaching you wish to gain access to.
Please note: training delivered locally (within an hour’s travel of Peterborough) does not involve travel or accommodation costs. These costs may however be added for courses further afield, but only with your prior agreement of course.
